Description

Hi,

Pressing on with more art styles! Only a few days away from Halloween and it got me thinking about the famed Batman series 'Long Halloween' (1996) as drawn by US comic artist Tim Sale (1959-).

Tim has an unusual style (he favors heavily stylized bodies and interest in high contrast shadows, etc. to emphasize the physique of his characters - women with thin lips and wide eyes feature heavily) which is well suited to the film noir 'look and feel' to 'Long Halloween' - the series borrowed heavily from film noir settings, lighting schemes and style and also borrowed (some say plagiarized) from The Godfather.

Tim's won Eisner Awards and worked on the TV show 'Heroes'.

I'm currently working on more art styles (Arthur Rackham, Carl Larsson and a few Dutch Old Masters) and, while I'm working on those time and energy intensive styles I wanted to keep up a tempo of submitting - so, here's Velma.

Resting in her Noir bedroom. Taking a moment between cases to rest her one leg and think about mysteries.

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween.

John
